Memories by alanbecker Memories by alanbecker
This is a "scannergram" project for my Photo I class. You make it by combining images from a scanner. Each of these objects was scanned and then rearranged in Photoshop.

The idea is that I'm a freak when it comes to preserving memories. I take pictures like crazy, and keep them all on little SD cards. The background is my personal journal. I write everything that happened in the day on one line of wide ruled paper. I've been doing it every day since summer of 2006. The reason why it's so small is that it kinda just became smaller and smaller as I did it, as my efficiency urges kicked in more and more. It doubled as a privacy strategy, it's so small that no one can read it.

yes when the day is over and i feel generally good about the day, i mark it with a star.
i started doing it because i wanted to remember when all the milestones in my life happened, and take a more objective look on how i spend my time. wow its been exactly a year since you made this comment.

omg amazing.. your journal *-* its like a diary, isnīt it?
but Iīm a little sad because of the SD cards and technic.. the world is too technical. I like real photos and photobooks more and the music on CDs - not only from the internet..
but nice picture ;D

This is pretty awesome! I can't believe how clear it is for scanned objects.

Could I take this opportunity to ask you if you will consider submitting your DDs to my group: #DD-Catalogue? :eager: I know you get an abundance of views on your DDs already, so our group wouldn't be hugely beneficial in terms of getting you art out there. But your deviations are vital pieces in the jigsaw that is #DD-Catalogue :)

Okay, I could possibly be retarded, but how did scanning the CD go? XD and the transparent SD card cases?
alanbecker Featured By Owner May 9, 2011  Professional Filmographer
WELL.. the CD scanned normally, but for the SD card cases I had to copy the image into two layers, one for the highlights (hard light mode) and one for the shadow (multiply mode) so no opaque pixels showed through, just highlight and shadow added to what was below it.
Tubesock427 Featured By Owner May 9, 2011  Hobbyist General Artist
Nice. XD I expected the CD would be troublesome because it's somewhat reflective, like scanning a mirror but not quite. But cool, cool.
